After traveling for close to 3 months in countries where English is not the primary language, it was a very nice change to be in London! Although we haven't really had any trouble finding someone who speaks English anywhere we've gone, it felt good to be able to read signs, menus, etc. by ourselves again. We felt so competent! :) There is a lot to see in London and we tried to see as much as we could: Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Tower Bridge, the London Bridge, and Buckingham Palace, to name a few. We also wanted to see a little bit of England other than London, so we took a day trip to see Stonehenge and also the town of Bath. England's countryside is really pretty, so I'm glad we were able to get out of the city even though we didn't have much time.
The Thames River and some ministry buildings (the sun actually does shine in London - just not very often!):
The Tower Bridge:
At Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard - it was just a little crowded:
Some of the yummy-looking food at our favorite market that we visited, the Borough Market:
My attempt to find Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross Station - it doesn't look quite like it does in the Harry Potter movies:
that bath looks awesome! but its looks cold there and you don't have a lot of warm clothes :/
ReplyDeleteIt was really cold, but if you just wear all of your clothes at once, you hardly notice. :) Thankfully, we are in a warmer climate now!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome experience for the two of you!!! Earlyn told me about it and shared your blog information! I look forward to reading more about your trip!
