Chisapani

In Nepal, we decided to get out and see the sights on a trek. It turns out there are lots of different types of these hikes, all the way from trips to Everest taking several weeks to short hikes around the Kathmandu valley, and everything in between. Since we only had a week in Nepal, we elected to do a guided three-day, two-night trip around the valley.

On the first day, we were driven to the starting point of the hike by a town called Sundarijal, which was just outside of Kathmandu itself. From there, we hiked for about 6 hours (mostly uphill) with our guide, a local college student. It was pretty tiring! Luckily, the temperatures were cooler than in Delhi, so that made it more bearable. As we hiked, we passed through several tiny villages (just a few houses each) and got to see how the rural Nepal people live. Late that afternoon, we arrived at our resting point for the night, a small town called Chisapani. The hotel we stayed at was pretty rustic - no electricity! The next morning, we were up early to start the hike to the next town, Nagarkot.
